On 19th October, we had a fantastic day supporting K2 Construction Management, the team behind the £400m SeAH Wind project at Teesworks, at their inaugural local charity golf event.
Stakeholders and partners of the scheme came together to help boost funds for The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and help us to spread the word and awareness of the vital services and support the charity can provide for workers and their families across the UK and ROI. Due to the generous donations of everyone who attended the event, we raised £1500 for the charity.
K2 has been selected to develop and deliver the mammoth offshore wind monopile manufacturing facility at Teesworks, Redcar, which during construction will employ more than 1500 people directly, and through the supply chain.
The construction management consultancy firm has chosen to partner with Lighthouse to raise awareness of poor mental health within the industry. In the UK, two construction workers take their own lives every working day and stress, anxiety, and depression account for a fifth of all work-related illnesses.
The new partnership will see a raft of activities and support rolled out to employees working on the project. These will include mental health training, toolbox talks, access to a free anonymous text line and App as well as pro-active support and resources.
K2 Managing Director John Setra said: “It’s more important than ever to ensure we support the wellbeing of our growing number of employees. I’m delighted, therefore, that we can partner with such an amazing charity, making a real difference to peoples’ lives across Teesside and the wider UK. As we continue to establish our new office in the region, we know the importance of looking after our teams, our contractor’s teams, and their families. This partnership will provide a brilliant support mechanism for all. My thanks go out to our project partners for their generosity and hope that everyone had a great day out.”
It was a pleasure to support K2’s annual charity golf day and we would like to say a huge thank you to the K2 team and their guests for their kind and generous donations and fundraising support.
